Sings That You Need To Have Your Air Conditioning Repaired:
Hissing: A hissing sound often points to leaks in the ductwork or refrigerant line. If this has persisted for some time, you might have noticed an increase in your energy bills.
Rattling: Rattling noises often suggest broken motors or loose panels. While tightening panel screws is simple, repairing broken motors requires the expertise of a trained HVAC technician
Clicking: Thermostats typically click when turning on and off. However, frequent or continuous clicking may signal failing thermostats or other AC components. Have it inspected before your system becomes inoperable.

Do not hesitant to reach out he was great and plan to use his services moving forward!Posted on Isaac GarciaDecember 28, 2024 I called Fred for some issues with my heating. I have a boiler with baseboard (water system). He was able to fix the issue rather quickly and was able to check a few other things as well (calibrated aqua stat, checked for air in the line, checked the voltage in the pump, relief valves, etc.). Gave me a diagnosis of why my boiler wasn't working and some recommendations of maintenance for the boiler. I was very satisfied with his work.Posted on Jay HuangDecember 8, 2024 I felt really lucky that I called Fred for help in a frustrated situation. A lot of thanks to him! My heater stopped working on a night a few days ago. After a few calls, I was able to find someone who agreed to come on the same night to take a look. But after a quick investigation, without pinpointing the exact issue, the guy told me my HVAC is just too old (it's not) and suggested replacing with a new one and quoted a big price tag. I had to go to sleep with frustration and w/o heat... The next day, with my friend's recommendation, I called Fred to help. After some initial pokes, Fred told me that it looks like a technical issue to him and he should be able to fix it, and that gave me quite some relief already. The issue turned out to be pretty tricky and kept Fred and his buddy troubleshooting for hours, and with their perseverance they eventually found out the root cause and then quickly fixed it. At the end, the price they charged was also very reasonable (super cheap comparing to replacing with a new one). I strongly recommend Fred to anyone in the area who needs help with their HVAC.
The most common mechanical parts that break or fail in air conditioning units include:
Regular maintenance and timely repairs can help prevent these common issues and extend the lifespan of your air conditioning unit.
- Compressor: The compressor is the heart of the AC system, responsible for circulating refrigerant. It can fail due to overheating, electrical issues, or lack of lubrication.
- Capacitor: Capacitors help start the compressor and the fan motors. They can wear out over time, leading to a failure to start or inefficient operation.
- Fan Motor: The fan motors in the outdoor unit (condenser fan) and indoor unit (blower fan) can fail due to wear and tear, overheating, or electrical issues.
- Refrigerant Leaks: Leaks in the refrigerant lines can cause a loss of cooling capacity and efficiency. This can be due to corrosion, vibration, or poor installation.
- Thermostat: The thermostat controls the temperature settings of the AC unit. It can malfunction due to wiring issues, dead batteries, or calibration problems.
- Evaporator Coil: The evaporator coil can freeze due to restricted airflow, low refrigerant levels, or dirty coils, leading to reduced cooling efficiency.
- Condenser Coil: The condenser coil can become clogged with dirt and debris, reducing the unit’s ability to expel heat and causing it to overheat.
- Expansion Valve: The expansion valve regulates the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator coil. It can become stuck or clogged, affecting the cooling process.
- Air Filters: While not a mechanical part, clogged air filters can lead to a variety of issues, including reduced airflow, frozen coils, and decreased efficiency.
- Electrical Components: Wiring, circuit breakers, and other electrical components can fail due to wear, corrosion, or electrical surges.
